13.04.07 The World Championship within the "outstretched epee" In April 13-18 the World cadets and junior fencing championship will be held in the Turkish town of Belek. In order to maintain the image of world-class fencers, our national team is preparing for the international rating tournament. But it is not easy to do just in 2007. Dmytro Reislin, the coach of the Ukrainian national team, is informing you of the future participation of Ukrainian team in the World championship.
- "I should say that this time we expect a very difficult tournament although, frankly speaking, I can not remember any easy one. This year we have to go to the contest without the most experienced key sward-women. So, we shall miss Yana Shemyakina, a professional world-class fencer, a title-holder of Europe for adult and junior fencing in individual events and manifold medalist of World cadets' and junior championships. Besides, Olena Reislina, who at the last world championship demonstrated a brilliant fencing style in team events, also will not be able to enter the fencing piste.
Unfortunately, we shall miss in Belek also Katya Blokhina, the silver medalist of the last World championship in the team event.
On the one hand, the participation of a practically renewed national team should be a hard test for the fencers themselves and their coaches. But, on the other hand, the presence of new promising and ambitious sportswomen just indicates remarkable achievements that the Ukrainian national women' fencing school has demonstrated recently.
Of course, the main credit for it should be given not only to the sportswomen themselves. Much has been contributed to such a progress of fencing in our country by the activity of Vadim Hutsait, the chief-coach of the national fencing team of Ukraine. Practically everything that our coach has planned within last years we have managed to implement successfully. In addition, we would like to express our thanks to Sergij Oleksandrovich Mischenko, the President of the National Fencing Federation of Ukraine, for his readiness to help in case of need.
But the most enjoyable is that is not easy just to note someone's concrete merits, which finally have ensured our success. It is quite important for me that the today's achievements and development of the Ukrainian women' fencing is a permanent and sustainable process. And I believe it is irreversible".
